My Livejournal is 10 years old today! I am thinking a good way to celebrate this milestone is hosting a friendzy!

You probably, all know the drill by now - post an intro below, get to know some fun people.

I will start, if,'journal doesn't mangle this post!

Hi! I'm ghost_light, I'm 43 and I suck at writing intros. I live in Anchorage, Alaska with my husband LonelyDumptruck and 296,000 other people.

 

I work days doing data entry (why yes, that is as exciting as it sounds) and helping out at a small real estate to afford what I really like to do - theatre and roller derby! 

 

I am a Talking Woman and resident stage manager for a burlesque troupe and I  stage and house manage for the Performing Arts Centre where I have been heckled by Bill Engvall and had Kenny G. stick his tongue out at me as we passed in the hall.

 

I am a  Skating Official (referee) in
the Derby Intelligence Compliance Squad for Anchorage's roller derby league.  Yes, that means we are DICS.
I look forward to meeting all of you!

Hi!

I'm a 40 year old Peoplesoft programmer in Kentucky. I like to cook and I craft a lot. I'm a jack of all crafts - I sew, knit, crochet, and spin yarn. I've taken classes in drawing, painting, and ceramics. I have a bit of a short attention span and tend to work on whatever is calling to me. Sometimes things just don't get finished.

I've been on LJ for almost 13 years now (it'll be 13 in January!), I don't post as much as I used to, but I still try to post at least twice a week.

I suck at introductions too, so ermmm...My name is Alex, I'm 30 chronologically, but swing between 30 going on either 12 or 120, depending on the day. The "interests" list on my profile might tell a lot about me, so if you like, check it out. I'm a gay male in two relationships, so if GLBT people or polyamorous people aren't your thing we might not agree on some things. Otherwise, feel free to add me and I really like meeting new people. I mostly post about how my day went, fun stuff like memes or silly things I pick up on the internet, serious topics, recipes since cooking is a huge hobby, and all sorts of things about my cat. YAY ON THE TEN YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it's awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so, my name is bethanne. i live in the state shaped like a mitten (michigan, thank you!) i have a life in process at the moment: i work in fine jewelry at a department store, but i hate my job, so i'm trying to find new work. time won't be on my side though, because within the next six months, my little bun in the oven will be ready. (my husband and i are expecting a baby! due in june! we're also fur-parents to two cats that don't get along too.)

as to what i want to be? i would like to be back in an office setting (was in a good job for two years before i got laid off) and i'd like more time to work on my art (i dabble in fine art when the weather is nicer and i have time to do it. working retail full time doesn't allow me a lot of time.) the only good thing that my current job has provided me is the friends i have made. we try and spend time with each other outside of work.

i also love to cook, listen to music, read, rest (a lot, as of lately), and watch tv and movies. i'm a unique person who likes weird stuff and that is cool by me.

i'm friends only, so shoot me a comment to let me know if you want to add me and i'll add you. and i like to meet more people who are just pretty cool. (no jerks though - if you're super conservative and hate people because of their skin color, sexuality, religion, disability, etc., we won't be friends. i'm a tree-hugging free spirit that loves everyone regardless of differences.)

As usual, I'm rather late to the party!

Hello, I live in the UK, I'm in my 30s and have an ordinary job that I neither love nor hate and dream of having one I do love. In my spare time I knit, spin, weave (with varying levels of skill) and have recently taken a foray into sewing. I also read as much as I can (audio books are helpful!). I try very hard to enjoy cooking. I don't eat sugar, most of the time. Or wheat. Hence the need for cooking. I have a nice OH and dog shaped plans in the future.

Periodically I'll disappear when things get busy and stressful, but I always come back.

Most of my socks are hand knitted, and today they are green and stripey

And happy 10 journal years! :)

ETA. Other interests are yoga, self compassion and watching Masterchef :)

Ugh, I dislike talking about myself b/c I don't think I'm that interesting. If by some fluke you read this & think we have some stuff in common, great!

I grew up in Kansas. Hated it. Was fortunate to have lived in a southern state for a decade where I felt most at home. Still in the south but a different state, courtesy of the husband's job [which I prefer not to mention in my journal].

Married mom of three teens. I like journaling, snarky icons, reading, Twitter, Words With Friends, The Blacklist, Bates Motel & celeb gossip shows.

I'm definitely an introvert. I'm serious but also have a sense of humor.

Lisa, 35. Married for a year but have been in a relationship with him for over 12 years now!

Loves: cats (I talk about my three quite a bit on FB), hockey, reading, being in the kitchen, watching the snow fall, winter and fall, games (board/FB/phone), snow (handy, since it's falling right now). Some of my favorite TV shows are: CSI, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, The Amazing Race, Gilmore Girls, and The West Wing.

I love children and hope to have some. My husband and I are currently TTC and I had a miscarriage in August. It does cause some Feelings when I read about pregnancy/babies but I figure that's better than pretending I'm not sad.

I'm a nanny to a family with 5 kids at home, 7 total. The days I work are busy and exhausting but I wouldn't trade my job for anything.

I went through a huge LJ slump earlier this year and am finding my love for it again.

Hi!

I'll be 30 this June. My divorce was finalized last May to a wonderful person who I spent 8 great years with (only 1.5 of them as a married couple), but should never have been married to. Now I'm out in the world dating again - which I didn't realize I would say at 29. I'm excited about someone I've met and thrilled with this new journey!

I work in education at a non-profit that focuses on food, farming, sustainability and nature connection. I love being outside with children and feel that I've won the jobs-lottery!

Outside of work I love to read, kayak, hike, travel, volunteer, cook, bake, garden, and be with people I love! I do love netflix at night and am happy to hear what people are watching, too.

I stepped away from LJ before & during the divorce, so am happy to be back and looking for new people to add! I'm "friends only" in my entries -- so please let me know if you plan on adding me so that I can add you back!

Hello. I'm Jeff, 31, and I live in the Chicago area. I post about once a week, maybe more if I have more to say. I mostly do text entries - not many photos. I tend to talk about what's going on, whether in my life, in the news, or new books/movies/music/TV. Recent posts have been about my Thanksgiving/Black Friday weekend; a trip I took to Washington, D.C.; my 10-year LJ anniversary (so yeah, I'm probably a "lifer"); and a few stray observations here and there.

I'm a big fan of music; I probably have more than is practical, but not enough to be satisfied. I have my favorites in each genre - from opera and classical to country, pop, and rock. I'm also in the midst of a project to watch all movies that have won the Oscar for Best Picture, so I'll have mini-reviews of those every now and then.

Hi my name is Holly. I just turned 40 and I'm a divorced single mom of a 15 year old boy and I still get visitation with my 14 year old ex-step-daughter. I have a 10 year old Chihuahua/Mini Greyhound mix dog named Mr. Gosh. I live in Southern California in San Diego county and I LOVE it here! I've been here for 17 years. I am the president of a small nonprofit that helps women with Postpartum Mood Disorders and I've been involved in this in various roles since my son was 6 months old.

I'm not sure how long I've had this LJ. Maybe 8 years...9? I post a couple times a week. I don't always have long posts and there aren't often pretty pictures but I like to think i am worth keeping up with. I don't generally do friends cuts.

I'm Kasey. I'm nearly 30, female, living in western Washington with my fellow of 5 years and our neurotic corgi-golden retriever mashup pup. Mashpup? Whatever. I'm super laid back/easy going, I don't get offended easily and therefore also swear like a sailor and am quite crude. I'm not an atheist, but I might as well be. I accept everyone as they are, but if something does rub me the wrong way, I make myself scarce in regards to it. I won't argue about politics, religion, or children.

I work in a bakery a couple days a week and spend the rest of my time tinkering around the house. I write a food blog, I am a published writer, and I'm a photography enthusiast. I'm also a gamer (Warcraft, mainly) and an avid internet user :P I waste a lot of time on reddit, Pinterest (just for the food), Ravelry, and I near-obsessively search Netflix for something 'new' and fun.

I read a lot. Current series I'm working on is Hugh Howey's Silo saga. On the second book at the moment. Also love The Hunger Games, A Song of Ice and Fire series, the Temeraire series, and I'm a Brit-lit nerd (including Arthurian legend).

We don't have cable, so I rely on things like Netflix and Amazon for my t.v. show fixes. I <3 Supernatural, Sons of Anarchy, Orange is the New Black, Breaking Bad, Doctor Who, Stargate Atlantis, King of the Hill, Bob's Burgers, and Archer. Oh. And Chopped. AMG how I love Chopped...

As far as LJ goes... I don't post a whole lot. I kind of got in a funk and didn't want to read or write anything. I'm trying to work my way back into the swing of things, very slowly, but new friends means more reasons to post! All are welcome :3

hi--I came over via gracegiver's post about this. Congrats on 10 years, I'll be there in March :) I'm 48, live in Seattle, work as a psychoanalytic therapist, and I talk about my own therapy a good bit. I like to read, paint, write, take pictures, cook, find new music, and hike, so I talk about all of those things some. My journal really is a place for me to process my life; it's quite raw at times, and not many ppl comment, but I don't mind. I read everyone on my FL, but don't comment that often. When I do, it's usually short (which is funny b/c my entries are notably long). I enjoy ppl who talk about their lives, as opposed to talking, for instance, about a tv show they're watching. I love picture posts, ppl with a good sense of humor, and ppl who are pretty easy-going. I'm very open-minded. I love poetry. I like talking about sex. I like reading about ppl's travels. I'm Steve. I'm 43 and live in Canada. I'm a married heterosexual monogamous social democrat atheist (recovering Catholic). That really doesn't say much about me, though. My FL is a wonderful mix of interest people. Some atheist. Some are ministers. Some poly. Engineers and art majors. Programmers and librarians. Stay at home moms and dads. Mmmm, librarians. There are conservatives. I like conversations. I don't have too much patience with racists or people who hate on the less fortunate. Ie/ complaining on Apr 15 that welfare queens have their hands in your pockets will raise my ire.

The two things that frustrate me are people and computers. This is why I'm a support manager for an ISP/telco.

I live in Windsor, ON. I am immediately south of Detroit (don't stop. Believing!)

I have three cats and a Shih Tzu. All of whom I talk about too much. My wife took a Post-Doc position out of town, so our homes are split. I watch way too much TV in my free time. I'm also run and am trying to learn Latin, the violin, and functional programming. Clearly I do it to impress the ladies. In probably more of a dilettante than a renaissance man. But I've gotta learn.

I read like I have ADD. There's always a stack of books where I rest.

Monty Python's Flying Circus and Woody Allen had a serious impact on my sense of humour.
I power-watch TV shows. I think Netflix release model is perfect for me. And the shows have been great!

Hello there! I'm Nicole, 33, living in Ireland. I am originally from Germany, but moved to Ireland almost 9 years ago as my boyfriend is from here. I work in IT and I also study part-time so I don't have that much time to write at the moment, but I'm finishing college in May anyway and should have more time again then.
