Mrs. userinfoalaskaguy had a cheap skate party for her birthday. There was drama and two guests leaving just as I got there (Something to do with not being allowed to wear in-line skates, I heard)so it ended up just being 6 of us. But the six included my old ATY boss and his lady and I hadn't seen them in ages.

We all had a blast and mostly remembered how to skate by the end of the party. We had so much fun I'm proposing meeting to do it once a month or so.

One of the things I love about working at the PAC is people-watching. Alaska really has no dress code for events. It's not uncommon to see people in fancy dress and people in Carharts or jeans at the same show.

My favorites, though, are the women in nice gowns standing with men in blazers and an expression that just screams 'I'm only wearing this blazer so I'll get laid again in this lifetime."

Busy weekend, but a good one. I worked at the PAC every day, which was pretty nice. House managed a ballet, 2 ATY shows and the ice skating rink.

I finally got my hair re-done. We're trying something different with the bangs and I love it so far.

I tanked at guessing which moves would win at the Oscars, but luckily lonelydumptruck was the only one there to see my shame.

The thigh bands for my brace came in but I havent' tried to mess with them yet. I have to before therapy tomorrow since Dr. Buddy will be there and I can get him to check them for me.

Okay - on to work!!

Today I had the biggest collection of rude audience members I have ever seen! Every single person needing late seating, for about 4 hours, talked at full volume or yelled once they got into the movie. One of them actually grabbed my flashlight and started swinging it around the house and at the screen randomly.

lonelydumptruck have been sucked into Battle Star Galactica and are devouring seasons 2 and 2.5 at a rate of approximately 3 episodes a day. This is a rough indication of where a lot of my free time has been going.

I've also broken down and joined FaceBook, where I see a lot of my future free time going.

As previously noted, I survived Fairy Tale Theatre. Not only that, I am actually considering doing it again. The shows both went very well. Saturday was rather brown trousers since the performance was the first time we had the set, lights, sound, costumes and tech but it all came together extremely well. My big joke is that it could not have gone worse than our last rehearsal where we had to practice walking up upstairs and walking on stage four times until we could do it without anyone collapsing in a mock faint, waving at the audience or announcing he had to go pee RIGHT NOW. That was also the rehearsal where one of my actors announced in the middle of a scene that if he ever had to do the show again he was going to throw up. Saturday went MUCH better than that. Sunday everyone was relaxed enough that we started getting the squirrelly giggles when things went wrong, but I was terribly pleased over all.

After 5 days of auditions, I finally have a cast for Bunnicula. I should be working on the rehearsal schedule for that and working on a big October project for Wild Berry right now, but I'm feeling awfully lazy and unfocused. The class I was going to teach for the Museum was canceled, which is probably good since I forgot to mark out the time for it on my calendar, but I have a meeting later this week about another project with them.

Saturday lonelydumptruck and I went to the first of 3 weddings this month. Saturday was kind of the party date of the year - we went from the wedding to the bachelor/bachelorette party for userinfopoisondartfrog and userinfomonkofsilence, then finished off the night with the Crooked Toad Cast party.

My pain levels have been astonishingly good lately. I haven't used my TENS or my therapy unit in just over a week and I have been skipping my morning meds more often than I should. I'm not *great*, but it has been better. I still feel like there is a terrible bruise behind my left shoulder and it hurts to lean back in certain ways or to touch it, but it's not as constantly severe as it has been. I wonder if it is the slightly milder weather (we have had some sun).

yeah, life's pretty full

Fairly productive weekend over all. I got called in to work at Wild Berry Friday and Saturday, which made for really long days after my shifts at the Center, but it was pretty fun.

Sunday was the triplet's birthday, so we had a family BBQ to celebrate my birthday and theirs. I have a truckload of Best Buy gift certificates now, so I should actually be able to buy a new digital camera! And a new camera means shots of the Subamino if it makes another appearance.

I got my script written for Fairy Tale Theatre, which is good since we only have 4 rehearsals left! I'm pretty proud of it so far. We'll see how it does when the kids actually get a hold of it.

Today is going to be another crazy day - I go right from Fairy Tale to a wine tasting at Wild Berry (There is a local guy who wants us to carry his products) and then back to the Center for Bunnicula auditions.

Yep, I agreed to direct Bunnicula. I may regret this. It's a musical, which I've never done before and the music has yet to arrive. There is a chance it will come in today, but I am not going to hold my breath. I'm also wondering/worried about how the rehearsal schedule will shake out since it's being done in rep with Evita.

Plus, and this is the big one, I don't even have an icon for the show yet!

Sadly, the Subamino doesn't live at the house across the street so I have not been able to get a picture yet. My master plan was to get some shots in the early morning before work when no one was around but that has not worked. Every time it's there after work the guys are swarming around it like flies on....a Subamino. The good news is that this means it is somewhere in Anchorage and someone else may get a sighting of it. Keep your eyes peeled! Just for the added bonus, it has red sides and a grey/primer hood. Very hot.

We spent most of the weekend on site with the Fair. I always feel sorry for all the plants around the Crooked Toad when we set up. It's such a late spring, and you can just hear all the dandelions and little leafy brush going "Ahh...there's the sun! I can finally grow and sprout and *thud!* Spool! Spool! There's a spool on me! Agh!"

Most of the guys got sexy new pirate boots and rope sandals to wear this year. I'm starting to think I'll be the only one without a new piece of garb in the Toad.

Pain levels have not been good lately, but I think that is also how much I've been up and around doing things. I'm going to have to switch TENS units this week to the old reliable from the new broke-ass. Pretty much 10 minutes after the company called to get me to buy it outright the wiring went whack-a-ding-hoy. I thought it was the pads getting old and not conducting well enough but I was still having problems with only feels the pulses in fits and starts no matter how high I had it turned up (and boy are those fits fun when you go from 0 to 7 with no warning!) I finally figured out that if I twiddle one plug I can get the impulses most of the time, and I can get the other working if I press down on the edge of the plug or pull on the wire. not pleased with this situation.

Work-wise, I should have my July schedule worked out in the next few days!

Friday I was sitting at the PAC, innocently reading a book, and when I stood up there was something incredibly hot in my front pocket! I freaked out, pulling things out left and right (because my pockets are pretty much like a 10-year-old boy's) and inside I find one flaming hot rechargeable battery for my TENS and two smoking hot pennies. They don't warn you about things like that in the instruction manual.

I'm kicking off Roll Thy Leg Over as the closing song at the Toad Show this year, which means I get to do my verse first. I've written 3 for myself over the years and I can't remember a single goddamn one of them! I remember the first half of one, and kind of the rhyme scheme of the last part of another, but they don't fit together.

So last night at rehearsal, there is no stopping. I don't have a verse but it is my turn to sing. One of the directors was joking that I had to come up with something or someone else would do it and I offered to whip a verse out of my ass:

Every damn year I write a verse for this song,
But when I get beer, well, they never last long.
If one of you kind souls could lend me a pen
I'll never have to sing this verse again.

I'm pretty pleased with it, but I don't think I'll be using it. but I did finally remember one of my verses on the way home:

If all of them laddies were tall mugs of beer,
I'd top 'em all off and I'd do it with cheer.
You can drink all you want, you can do what you please
But spill one drop and your down on your knees.

I should work on another one.

I have also agreed to direct Fairy Tale Theatre for ATY this summer. I think I found a fairy tale I want to adapt instead of using a scripted play. I'm worried it isn't long enough and I'll have to come up with some others, but I'm feeling pretty good over all. I want to post the story but I probably won't do it as an open entry.
