We have a couple of favorite places, made some friends, took a cooking class and discovered that Margaritaville is base camp for Mt. Fuck-Me-Up. Life's pretty full. I'm hoping to get to some theatre tonight. I can't decided between a long-running late-night show or a long-running late-night comedy called Splatterhouse.

I can't believe it's Friday!

I'm going to see Rainmaker one more time tonight, then we are off on a plane early tomorrow morning. I still have a list of things to do like wash my brace and re-load music my iPod forgot to bring over from it's last library like Evil Dead the Musical and all my Beatles songs.

I am so excited and so not ready to go!!!

Any travel tips?

We got to the airport so early we caught an earlier flight and came home completely knackerd. Auditioned for The Imaginary Invalid, watched some BSG and that was pretty much our day. More later.

Sorry I didn't call, mom.

We hung out with family yesterday and met up with userinfokornoplous for a bit. Planning to see other folks today and tonight, but that will be another post.

userinfokornoplous, we're out and about - call us!

We made it back to Seattle and we're killing time until the hotel lets us in around 4 and lonelydumptruck's family arrives later this afternoon. We're going to do some shopping and possibly go on the Underground tour.

Victoria was awesome! I found a Lush store *drool* and then a pub with a really great band - the Wiskey Dicks - described as Celtic Gypsy Punk. They were selling t-shirts and thongs, so I went up to double-check if they had a CD for sale as well and I scored! Too many great beers had by all.

We had a real lazy night last night after the big dinner 'finale'. Since we're in port tomorrow night at 7, they did the big presentation with all the staff and Baked Alaska last night. It was really nice. There was lobster.

Today is actually sunny, so we're going to go sit on the deck and read for a while this afternoon.

That's about it in my world, how are you doing?

Ketchikan, by and large, SUUUUUUUUUUCKS!!!! Full on tourist trap town complete with teenage Nazi crossing guards making sure people are safe crossing certain streets. (but only certain streets.) Blegh! We were thinking of going to a lumberjack exhibition, but we may can it and just head back to the ship.

lonelydumptruck was one of the 3 finalists in the joke-telling contest I mentioned earlier. Last night they did a hugs gala event like it was the Oscars and he got to tell the joke in front of the whole crowd in the theatre. And he WON! We're coming home with a little trophy that's probably supposed to be an eagle totem but looks an awful lot like Harvey Birdman. I am so proud of my boy!

Overall, it's a good time. I love our serving staff at dinner. The Sommelier looks rather like a bouncer or a Bond villain. Our head waiter seemed really shy at first, but he's warmed up and appears to be flirting with my mom at every meal. Our assistant waiter is a KICK! He's from Turkey and instead of saying 'You're welcome', every time we thank him for something he says "Yes, please!" My dad drinks about half a pot of coffee every night with dinner, so the big joke has been getting the assistant waiter 'trained' to bring it at the right times. He's teasing dad about it almost as much as dad teases him.

Today we're doing a wine tasting, tea with mom and sailing off to Victoria. I have faith it will be much, much better than Ketchikan.

Yesterday was fun. We were at sea all day and saw the Hubbard Glacier. I missed the approach to the glacier because yesterday was also the tour of the ship's theatre and my mom and I talked the technical director into giving me a private tour of the booth (heh. He was a nice guy, I heard all about all the technical elements that don't really work anymore and then we digressed into telling theatre ghost stories with the lighting designer.

They had the second round of the joke contest. I told my favorite blonde joke, but the Penguin Joke would have been more appropriate for that crowd. Most everyone brought the raunchy. lonelydumptruck told the ice fishing joke and we even got mom up there to tell one of her brother's favorite jokes.

We're in Juneau today. It's pretty grey and dull. lonelydumptruck hurt his foot a bit, so we're not up to walking the whole town the way we did in Sitka. We did go to the Capital and took the 'self-guided' tour. I liked some of the small touches. We went into the Speaker's office and there are 2 signs on the desk - one says 'Boo/Hiss' and the other says 'Don't Pick Your Nose'.

Right now we're enjoying a breakfast beer while I type this and we're hoping to hit the Alaska Brewery a little later in the day, then it is off to Ketchekan. If anyone would like postcards from our fabulous trip, the place to comment is a couple entries back. Seattle folks, the entry to meet up with us this weekend is there as well.

That's all I can think of for now.

Yesterday was an 'at sea' day, so there were a lot of activities on the boat but no cell phone service and limited internets.

lonelydumptruck rocked the trivia contest they held. We got 14 out of a possible 16 or 17. I entered the joke contest with The Penguin Joke. The rules for the contest were nothing too dirt or racist, but a couple people ahead of me did Mexican and adultry jokes, so I figured I'd be fine. I was worried for a moment, because the guy running the contest was saying 'edit, edit edit.' as I walked away, but lonelydumptruck assures me it's because people were still laughing while he was trying to introduce the next person.

Sitka is awesome, but I'm borrowing time at the library to post, so I will have to talk more about it later.

We met up with Mom and Dad just fine. The rooms are small (to me, having never been on a ship before, but I heard lonelydumptruck tell his mom they are bigger than the one he had when he went on a cruise years ago.)

I pretty much fell asleep the moment I looked at the bed and stayed that way until it was time to go to dinner.

The meal was great. They had duck confit, something I've always wanted to try and almost ordered in userinfoGeolinguist's honor, but I chickened out and got a mushroom puff pastry thing.

We're off to watch Casino Royale now. Yes, yes, I know Raiders is in Seattle, but I'm on a cruise, nyah.

Oh! I do not appear to have email, so if you need me, ping me here!
