1.  If you were going into something like the witness protection program and had to change your name, what first name would you select?

 

2.  When you see a name that is obviously a misspelling of a common name (such as Derald),.what is your first thought?

1. Well, um, the first name that comes to my mind is Sookie. *facepalm* It's not that I admire the character, but that I like the sound of the name. But I wouldn't really want to be called that. But seeing as I can't think of anything else right now, I'm stuck with Sookie. *facepalm*

2. "Hee... language change and variation!" would be my first thought, I guess. Your example is particularly fascinating because the change in the spelling doesn't drastically change how that name sounds. But I guess that would make it very impractical because Derald would spend a lot of time spelling his name out to people who think he's called Gerald.
