I just started a brand new legacy family. I had a whole introductory post planned and then I saw this. You know how a picture is worth a thousand words?
This introduces Alexander Allgood better than I ever could:
I had a Sim who was always getting wolf whistled at and such... from both genders. He ended up married to a woman -- his first sexual encounter -- yet accidentally had an affair with a guy. (He accidentally kissed the guy, due to a mistaken command I gave him; and it was major crush at that point.) It didn't help matters that the man and his wife were working completely different shifts -- he was working days and she was gone nights.
See... I am so not a computer game person. I'm a married, middle-aged woman. That's not to say I didn't play a handful of text-based games back in the early days of home computing, but I hadn't even been enticed by video-driven computer games.
And then I found this site of custom content and ended up buying the Sims 2 Deluxe set (base game + Nightlife).
I've been playing since March, and have graduated to creating my own custom content.
And, yeah... the possibilities for romantic liaisons is practically endless. With Apartment Life, you can even woohoo in a closet. :-D
I have to admit, I didn't understand exactly what you meant by "legacy game," so this clears that up.
Where do you find these challenges? Are there sites you like to visit, and if so, which ones are those? (Like I said previously, kinda new to Sims; so I'm not familiar with what other people use. It's not like I have a simming pal or anything; I just kinda find things through links and stuff...)
I think I saw it mentioned in one of the fan communities here on LiveJournal. I don't read any of them regularly, but I look at the forum on the official site every time a new expansion comes out to get a feel for it before I buy it.
I noticed when I was googling the term "legacy game" in relation to Sims someone's LJ, and I was kinda fascinated that some people blog about this stuff. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but it did make me smile...
What expansion packs do you have? I have everything and all but one stuff pack (No Glamor Life yet). Am anxiously awaiting the new build and garden stuff pack. Haven't seen a release date listed for it, but I really wants it, as it has components for what is currently my favorite architectural style: Second Empire.
Should I show you some of my custom content pictures? :-)
If you click on the links "view all" you'll see a little more. I have another apartment lot coming out tomorrow, which is actually two freestanding houses in the second empire style -- one house has two apartments, the other is the entire house for rent.
Some of my houses were lost when I had to uninstall/reinstall everything, but some made it through the "fire"...
Lately I've been trying to design my houses using absolutely no custom content, which makes it a little harder... :-)
I'm still trying to figure out how to work in SimPE and stuff... when that day finally comes, watch out for the hair and clothing! :-D
Okay, so next question: how do you like all the expansion packs? Which are your favorites, and which don't you play all that often? (I realize for things like Free Time and Seasons, they're always a part of your game, as opposed to University and Open for Business, which are lots you visit; so the comparison isn't exact.)
For me, I like what Seasons adds to the game. Not always keen on Free Time (especially the constant phone calls and the hobby enthusiasm, since you basically have to do an activity constantly to keep your enthusiasm from dipping at all.). I've played University and enjoyed it, but don't really play it much. Same is true for BV, NL, and OfB; though OfB is probably my least favorite.
I think there are some interesting twists in AL; I certainly like the apartment aspect of it (BTW, my apartments don't really allow for noise to be a problem with the neighbors, which is a VERY good thing!) :-)
I started a legacy game last night, after finding a link to the original EA post about it. My legacy sim is preggers with her first child. We'll see how that goes... :-)
Yay, a new legacy! I always enjoy your Sim posts. My latest legacy is currently on generation 4. Unfortunately, my computer's constant crashing keeps my Sims almost entirely away from vacations, beaches, and community lots, so they lead pretty boring lives.

I have to ask, what custom content do you use, if any?

Date: 2008-09-22 09:53 pm (UTC)I don't use any custom content, I had a bad experience with some in Sims 1 hosing my entire computer.

Date: 2008-09-22 10:45 pm (UTC)You can woohoo all over the place, and with some custom content, you can literally woohoo someone immediately after "hello"... ;-)
It's so much better than regular computer porn. ;-)

Date: 2008-10-02 03:43 pm (UTC)I really like University. I send almost all my Sims to college. I never use the content from 'Open for Business' but I am going to try this legacy.
Share your legacy story?? pretty please??
