I saw this meme on userinfoannathepiper's journal

"Look at your LJ "interests" list. If you have fewer than 50 interests, pick every fifth one. If you have between fifty and seventy-five interests, pick every seventh one. If you have over seventy-five interests, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than ten, pick all of 'em. List them here, and tell everyone exactly what it is about these things that interests you so much."

and I was much intrigued. I started going through my 90-odd interests and I began to realize "hey, this one is the same as the one above it" and "hey, this one is boring as hell."

So I began to cull my interests.

I have cut down to 84 interests. These are a much better indication of who I am and what I am into, but every 10th one is boring as all shit. I'd rather write about the experience of watching a stage dry so I'll tell you what -

if one of my interests intrigues you, ask me and I will write about that.

Assassins is one of my favorite musicals. I bought it back in college without knowing anything about it other than I'd heard about it in a Show Tunes magazine. I don't remember if it was before or after I'd decided to order my CD collection and discovered I had 8 or 10 Sondheim musicals ("gosh, guess I'm a fan of this guy.")I love the characters, I love the unconventional rhythms and rhymes. I was blessed to see it in Seattle (as a senior project by a musical theatre group) and I ache to do it here. One of my stupidest drinking games is to cast the show out of the Anchorage talent pool.

Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter.....I bought this movie for Mark's 34th birthday. We collect vampire movies. This was supposed to be an "older than Jesus" party but he chickened out on the theme. Several things, like this film, had already been purchased. Several people including [profile] scooterpbakes, [profile] kahteeyah and perhaps [profile] geolinguist
watched the movie in a drunken orgy of laughter. The basic premise is that vampires are real and Jesus Christ is dealing som righteous ass-whuppin's on our behalf. Oh, and it's a musical. The opening song alone (He came from Heaven, 2 stakes in his hands, to slay the vampires and free the land. Come now and join Him, all you brave and bold. We'll fight togther, like the days of oooold. It's all good, it's alright. Everybody gets laaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiid tonight!) kahteeyah called the next morning to see if the movie was really as good as she remembered. In addition to being screamingly funny, it had an honestly cool moment a legit vampire movie should steal - a guys is playing a club and at the end of his number looks around to realize that, in the entire packed club, he is the only one casting a reflection in the mirrored walls. I lent this movie to someone and I can't remember who. If you are out there, bring it back!!

Schadenfreude. Do you ever laugh when a waitress falls and drops a tray of glasses? And don't you love to see figure skaters falling on their asses? Don't you feel all warm and cozy watching people out in the rain? That's Schadenfreude. People taking pleasure in your pain.
