Ayckbourn And The Round
Dear Supporter,
As you may be aware, on 1 June 2007 the Stephen Joseph Theatre board announced Alan Ayckbourn is to step down as Artistic Director of the theatre in summer 2008.
As I am sure you will appreciate, this makes Ayckbourn And The Round 2008 an impractical proposition. Given that the new Artistic Director is not expected to assume full responsibilities at the theatre until early 2009, it seems unlikely any decision on major Ayckbourn-related events will be made before 2010. In light of this and the fact the event was last held in 2005, I am writing to inform you that, at least in its current form, Ayckbourn And The Round is to come to a close.
Should this decision change or circumstances alter regarding Ayckbourn And The Round, details will be carried on Alan Ayckbourn’s official website at www.alanayckbourn.net. In accordance with data protection laws, the mailing list is now closed and will be deleted.
I would like to thank you for your support and interest in Ayckbourn And The Round and for helping to contribute to its success over the years. My role as co-ordinator has been a considerable source of enjoyment for myself and I am delighted to have had the opportunity to come into contact with so many fans of Alan’s plays across the international stage. I hope you will continue to support the Stephen Joseph Theatre in the years to come, where Alan fully intends to continue premiering and reviving his plays.
As always, if you have any queries about any aspect of this letter or Ayckbourn And The Round, please do not hesitate to contact me by email at: simon.murgatroyd@sjt.uk.com or by phone at +44 1723 370540.
Once again thank you for your support.
Yours sincerely
