1. Ugh. Well, nice things happened, too, but suffice to say I'm now on crutches.

2. "Fuck!" I'm a traditionalist. Sometimes I swear in Finnish but that's usually for demonstrative purposes. When I really mean it, it comes out in English. For example, the last time I went ice-skating before the long distance skating track on the lake became too dangerous, the ice was already starting to soften on the surface. My skates kept sinking into the soft spots in the ice and, as you can imagine, that's pretty dangerous because it makes you stop abruptly, which is not desirable while skating. Also, it's frustrating and puts you on edge because you never know if the ice is going to hold or not, and that's also a bit terrifying because even though you know the ice is thick and just because the surface is melting in the sun, it doesn't mean it'll crack all the way through, but even so, you're on a lake, far from shore, wearing heavy winter gear, so you really don't want the ice to crack.

So that was my state of mind when the my skate sank in for the umpteenth time. I shouted "Fuck! Shit shit! Fuck!" with abandon.

3. Not really, but we've been having a lot of visitors during the past few weeks so we've kept the place pretty tidy. We've even cleaned some nooks and corners that don't usually make it on the "weekly chores" list. Not that we have a list, except an unspoken one, dictated by habit.
