1. When I worked in The Strand Bookstore, two of my coworkers got into a shoving match, which escalated to fisticuffs. The supervisors broke it up.

2. Saturday: Hopefully, support group, and Sunday: Mammogram and sonogram. Fun, fun, fun!

3. NO!

Did the people in the fight get fired? My boyfriend was telling me last night about people beating each other up in the parking lot during one of his old jobs. They'd usually fire both people because they couldn't prove who started it.

Nope. They were put on warning. The Strand was a very relaxed workplace - there was a prostitute that used to arrange rendezvous with clients in the back of the fiction section; there were drug addicts that used to shoot up in the bathroom on break ... very relaxed atmosphere. We had to clean the toilets and sweep the floors and take out the trash ourselves, though.

My favorite part were the signs and graffiti that employees put up down in the basement: "Prosecutors will be violated" (the entrance to the freight elevator) and "Abandon all hope ye who enter here" (over the last aisle in the review books section). Fun times! I remember it fondly, quarrelsome coworkers notwithstanding.

1. Only verbal ones. I can't remember seeing a physical fight since school.

2. If it stops raining for five seconds, going to the Shelsley Walsh hillclimb (http://www.shelsley-walsh.co.uk/events/content.asp?ms=21&ei=145). (For some weird reason, "Shelsley Walsh" is showing up all lower-case, which looks horrible. It shouldn't be!)

3. Depends what you mean. Here (the UK) "baked beans" pretty much always means the Heinz type in tomato sauce -- which I love, and which are vital for a full English breakfast. Ireland and Britain are the world's two largest consumers (in per-head terms), you know. =:P Other types (eg Boston-style) are vastly less common, so I don't really know.

1 I heard a couple of verbal fights during my last job. Funny you ask this, my boyfriend told me last night that on one of his old jobs, fistfights would break out in the parking lot and both people involved usually would get fired. He's also said that on some of his old jobs, there was severe bullying among coworkers, but he managed to stay out of it.

2. RELAXING!

3. Yes.

Nothing really comes to mind right now. Well, watching TV, but that is ALL the time anyways. ;-)

3. Do you like baked beans?

Not really...I mean I guess they are okay--but nothing special to me. ;-)

1. Yes, when I was teaching English as a Second Language. We were in a van, on the way back from a field trip, and two students got into a slapping fight. Both were legally adults, but not behaving as such. They were pulled apart and the next day, were taken aside and had some facilitation in Getting Along and THAT WAS NOT APPROPRIATE. They also had to apologize to the van driver, as one was sitting in the front seat and she could have hit him in the fray.

I learned that I'm too timid when it comes to watching two people fight. I reached over and told them to stop. The other teacher, who is a parent, took off his seatbelt and dived in to help break it up, roaring at them. He was much more effective.

2. Gardening and writing fanfiction. It's the Canada Day long weekend and I don't have many firm plans.

3. Every now and then. Stampede Week is almost here in Calgary, so I'll be eating baked beans as part of Stampede breakfasts.

2) Driving 900 miles each way to visit some friends and annoy others.

1. Not as a witness, but as a participant. I was verbally attacked by a co-worker last year. It was pretty horrible. Many people witnessed it and my attacker got into a bit of trouble, but nobody got fired or suspended or anything. I don't seek her out for workplace camaraderie anymore, but she's currently working in the cubicle right next to mine.

2. I had no weekend plans, and that's how it turned out. I avoided the heat as much as possible, watched a bunched of Mad Men and a couple of movies, and played with my pets.

3. I do!
