Wow, it had been a while since I have done one of these, hasn't it?

 

Colossus: The Forbin Project

 

Forbin had designed a new super computer, Colossus, which will take over all of our defense systems.  The day Colossus goes live, it spits out an unexpected message:  Soviet Computer Detected.  Initiating Contact.

 

It is a tight, well-written little thriller.  It was made in 1970, and I kept expecting to  see little robots silhouetted at the bottom of the screen, but hang in there.  The plot is well-worth the production values.
