We went to see Cake at Mooses Tooth Thursday night. We really lucked out, the weather has been shit all month and Thursday afternoon the sun finally came out to play. The concert was great, everyone was talking about how much better it was than the last one. It seemed short even though it was about the 2 hour mark and they didn't talk endless like last time. There were a lot of songs from their upcoming album.

Friday both Big and Little Boss were out of town so I got to play my podcasts nice and loud. I love podcast Friday. We were supposed to go to a going-away BBQ for one of lonelydumptruck's co-workers who changed her mind and decided not to go away but didn't tell the boss. She went through all the motions of cleaning out her desk and when the boss comes in tomorrow morning, she will be sitting at the boss' desk wearing a ribbon. We ended up bunkering instead, which was very nice.

Saturday lonelydumptruck went to work for a few hours. I was going to spend the time beating my head against some ATY work but, by the time I got up, the boss lady already had the form I needed to
create waiting in my mailbox so I played Sims instead.

After some dinner and video games, we walked down to the annual Spenard Art Party. Every year they set up a little trebuchet and charge $25 to fire a decorated melon at a large thematic target. This year was The Spenard Voretx, which appeared to be all about how Spenard is taking over all of Anchorage. It was wild. I got pictures and video but I'm too tired to walk over and get the phone to download them tonight. We also saw a mama and twin mooses walking there. One of them was quite close to us walking home but, thankfully, decided not to start anything with us.

We were going to go to the first night of Brr-lesque Idol Saturday night, but Frank called while we were on the way to the party to see if we were up for driving to Girdwood to see the Grannies. Who doesn't want to see a punk band who dresses up like old ladies play in a restaurant? It was a really awesome show and I got the last tank top from their 2005 tour for free. I love having new under-brace clothes.

I house managed the opening shift this morning and lonelydumptruck hung out with Rodney. I planned to knock out the rest of my ATY work but I keep getting thwarted. First I left the power cord for the laptop at home, then the laptop decided to start acting up (it might be virused) and now my printer won't print one of the pages I need to copy for the school district to hand out on Tuesday. I finally just walked away and spent some good couch time with lonelydumptruck. He got Kick Ass from the brand new Red Box at the Quickie Mart. It was good but not as funny as I expected it to be.

*Whew*

That was almost exciting. Apparently some part of my brain decided it was Sunday and dealt with the alarm accordingly. Thank Zod I woke up about 7:30 and made it in on time, especially since our receptionist is.late.

1. When was the last time you overslept?

2. Did you have a good weekend?

3. Who was the first person you spoke to.this morning?

...was a trying day at work in The Warehouse of Misfit Toys. Our receptionist has been nigh-on dead for days so I was ma'am the desk. The big perk of that is that I am a LOT busier and I get to pick on the Germ-o-phobe all day long.

The Germ-o-phobe ADORES death metal and has all these strange German sites streaming him music every few days. Yesterday one of his favorite bands released a new album so he had to rush right on out and get it during the work day and then sat blasting it all day long. It felt like someone was trying to force a zoo into my ear and, by and large, I like metal!

lonelydumptruck had a much better day. He had a job interview for a new position in his company in the morning and an offer by afternoon! It's kind of the same job he's had, but with new responsibilities, a new building, new team and a new paycheck.

We went to dinner at Humpy's to celebrate and ran into jdawgspi and The Boy Who Kisses Her. They were also grabbing dinner before going to userinfoGeolinguist's round table at SubZero. It was a great night to have cocktails with friends!

The Youth theatre asked me to come be the very-very-very part-time very short-term office manager while the new Executive Director is on vacation! They also asked me to direct a show in the Spring!

For those playing along at home this is 1 full-time job, 2 part-time jobs and 3 shows for the season.

It is far, far too nice out to be trapped in a warehouse. I'm ma'aming the desk downstairs, probably for the rest of the week so I already have the door propped open to enjoy the sun in spite of predictions that I would freeze us all.

Big happenings, but details will come in a future post. Meanwhile, in another part of Gotham City...

1. What color was your first car?

2. Have you ever had a water balloon fight?

3. What brought you to LiveJournal?

It snowed again today. When I went home for lunch it was dumping huge, fat flakes that were just starting to stick to the porch. When I went back to work the whole porch was white and it was starting to stick to the grass. Around break-time we were getting flakes the size of half-dollars, I shit you not. I blame mischief_wa: she wanted to see snow while she was here.

The sun was out and it was nice and warm at 5. George's thermometer said it was in the 50's, but he lies if he's parked in the sun. We were agreed on the fact it was not quite 40 by the time I got home. George has become a pididdle, by the way, not sure when that happened. A co-worker told me as soon as I walked into the office yesterday and one of my office friends called the moment I got into the parking lot to let me know about it today. George is overdue for his 10,000 mile check up any way, so I'll just let them know when I take him in. I have to get the snow tires off by the end of the month too.

lonelydumptruck doesn't have rehearsal tonight so we'll probably go to one of the plays closing this weekend. Tomorrow is still up in the air.

I over-did it at work today. I think the weather is bugging me too so I'm going to give myself a break from the laundry even though I just got off my ass to be productive at lunch today.

Ahh, the end of March and the promise of breakup. There is about a foot of snow left in the middle of the Party Palace and the unmistakable aroma of thawing dog shit wafting through the air. Puddles bigger than George are springing up everywhere and threatening to swallow my poor little bug. There are two lakes in the middle of the street leading up to work.

Last year the one was so large a co-worker saw one of the managers driving the opposite direction so he slowed down and leaned out of his cab a bit. When the manager slowed down and unrolled his window to hear what he was trying to say, the guy gunned it and sent a wave of puddle water through the manger's window. Good times.

I went to the 24-hour post office at the airport to mail some packages. I forgot today is the last day to file for the Dividend so the place was a mob scene.

No word about Lorne but we got tickets to fly down and see him in a couple weeks.

I've been covering the desk full-time since our attendance-optional receptionist left. Office Friend was supposed to be pulled off driving to take the desk, but this seems to be working out better for now. We're hiring, though, so Zod only knows what will happen next.

lonelydumptruck went home sick today. I wanted to join him more than anything in the world, but I'm completely shackled to the desk. Little Boss is out with kidney stones and the accompanying surgeries until at least Friday so they only way I'll get to leave work is if I barf on the Germ-o-Phobe's shoes.

After work I went to the play selection committee for ACT. Only 5 of us made it. Most of the plays on the short list to consider for the next meetings are ones I suggested or spoke out in favor of doing. I feel really good about that.

After the meeting was Afterlife rehearsal. We're finally getting some momentum, which feels really good. Plus I actually *acted* in a couple of the scenes. Who knew?

In back news, the hokey-pokey rib is becoming a fairly good barometer. It's hurt like hell right before the last 3 snowfalls. @whee.

I was driving to work this morning and I noticed that my usual off-ramp seemed a bit darker than, well, usual. It wasn't until I got to the top of the hill and a non-functioning stoplight that I realized it was because the power was out.

I cautioned myself not to be too optimistic about the light being off at work and drove on with extreme care. Chugach Electric, which is right around the bend from my office was lit up like a Christmas Tree (go fig.) but we didn't have any lights outside.

I went in and was greeting by the Big Boss "There's really nothing you can do here. The drivers can still drive and the warehousemen can still pull files because they have lights on their lifts but you can g-" And at that second the fucking lights came back on.

My day was saved when I got home tonight, though. My messenger popped up an article about the sickest, fattiest Thanksgiving food. How can your heart fail to be warmed with things like Turducken wrapped in bacon, an apple pie with bacon as the top crust and this winner -

Bacon mac and cheese meatloaf
"This Is Why You're Fat"

INGREDIENTS

• 2 eggs
• 2 slices wheat bread, crumbled
• 2 tablespoons ketchup
• 1 large garlic clove, minced
• 2 tablespoon parsley, minced
• Worcestershire sauce to taste
• Cayenne pepper to taste
• Salt to taste
• Black pepper to taste
• 1 1/4 cups onion, sliced
• 10 strips of bacon
• Premade macaroni and cheese

DIRECTIONS
Mix ground chuck, eggs, bread, ketchup, garlic, parsley, Worcestershire sauce, cayenne pepper, salt and black pepper with hands in a large bowl.

Meanwhile, sweat onion until translucent but not brown. Allow onions to cool, then add to meat mixture. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and move to refrigerator.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Lay bacon across the width of a loaf pan. Press a layer of meat into the bottom of the pan, on top of the bacon. This layer should fill exactly one third of the loaf pan.

Scoop some of the macaroni and cheese into the loaf pan, making sure to press out any air bubbles. This layer should also fill one third of the loaf pan.

Form a slab of meat in the approximate size and shape of the remaining one third of the loaf pan. Transfer the slab to the loaf pan. Add or remove meat as necessary to ensure a snug fit.

Fold strips of bacon back over the top of the meatloaf. Roast until internal temperature reaches 160 degrees.

I was very, very TGIF yesterday. Little Boss has been on vacation, so it was just me in the upstairs office with the Big Boss. I fucked up a few things, like not alphabetizing the checks the first time I ran the deposit, but I learned a lot and I left the office feeling very fulfilled.

I found Hextic on Xbox Live. Back when the world was young and you could actually play games on MSN Games instead of being led though a series of mazes ending with 'Now give us $19.85 so you can play games!' I could play Hextic for days. That was a nice way to unwind after work and I earned a nice number of points towards getting Castle Crashers.

lonelydumptruck and I went to Cafe Amsterdam for the first time in what felt like yeeeaaars and had a beer before going to see Dog Saw God.

Both of us really liked the show. The concept is the Peanut's characters as teens dealing with sexuality, mental illness, peer pressure etc. The scene where CB goes to visit Van's sister in the Home for the Criminally Bewildered was the standout of the show. I also loved Van telling people that, after CB and his sister burned his blanket, he rolled up the ashes with some primo weed and smoked it.

After the show we got steak sandwiches and watched Omega Man. lonelydumptruck hadn't seen it in years and I'd never seen it. It explains a lot about why I Am Legend sucked so much ass. We also got ourselves hooked on The Whitest Kids U Know.

We started out today with some Left 4 Dead and now lonelydumptruck is out running with userinfoGeolinguist right now and I'm going to pick them up downtown when they are done.

My big plan for the afternoon is deciding if I want to go shopping for new underbrace clothes or for a new skirt to go with the Brr-lesque bodice userinfoGeolinguist helped me pick out at the Fair. Yep, a lingerie store from the Valley had a booth at the State Fair.

Tonight span style="white-space:nowrap;">lonelydumptruck is part of the reading of a friend's new play, then we are off to a belated birthday party and shearing for Dave. He only gets his hair cut once a year. Either gows or userinfopoisondartfrog shave his head on his birthday and he just lets it grow for the year.

Tomorrow I have rehearsal for Harvey in the evening. I'm really pleased with the show, just worried if we'll have enough time to run everything enough times between blocking it and opening!
