So much to say and so little desire to write.

In the last couple of days we had our new bed frame delivered. It's gorgeous and it is HUGE. We had such an adventure getting it inside at 10 at night, just Mark and I, with me trying not to lift. We dinged it in a few places, but none too terribly. Markis trying to decide how best to fix it, wax or a sharpie.

Based on comments,we named our Roomba. She is Rosie. Mark is now on a quest to rememebr what Rosie on the Jetsons sounded like and I want to make her a little white maid hat/tiara.

The treadmill arrived today. Mark reordered the living room to better fit it. He thinks I hate the arrangement because my first comment was that it made our living room very small, but what I meant was that it is not really entertaining size but is a nice, intimate size for just the two of us.

Mark came home very late last night because of tech. I spent the night reading after having dinner with a friend. I re-read "A Woman in Mind" which is one of my favorite Alan Ayckbourn plays. It was the first one I'd ever seen and I am still haunted by the ending - Susan standing there speaking in her own language that no one else can understand crying "December bee? December choosy?" I have recommended it to one of the theatre companies in town and I wanted to give it another read before I lent out my copy to make sure there was not anything they might object to that I didn't remember.

I followed that up with one of Ayckbourn's childrens plays "This Is Where We Came In". Dear God, I laughed until I cried. I tried to imagine how to explain it and the best I could come up with was "It's 6 Characters Trying to Ditch Their Authors". Basically there is a group of Story Players, who act out the stories as the Story Tellers spin them. The Story Tellers are older than death, one of them tells the same things over and over, one can't remember things and the third gets everything wrong. Which leads to moments like "And this is the story of Grethel and Hansel. ("so far so good") who live at the edge of the forest with their father (Albert dons Woodsman attire.) who is a plumber." Having slept on it, I love the play even more.

Tonight I went to see "Back of the Throat". Mark just blew me out of the water. I was so impressed by his acting. The entire cast was dead soild. He kind of warned me that the script starts out great and thne gets really weird but I was riveted from start to finish. I teared up at the end. The audience was small, but none of us left when the lights came up, every one of us stayed to talk to the director and actors. I think that says a lot.

We went to see Veronica at Blues Central after that, which was a kick. We were totally "that table" yelling and screaming "We love you" after every song. We even danced like white guys right there at the table.

Oh, huge news flash - I will be appearing ON STAGE at the Overnighters. Yep, they only let me out of the booth about once a year and it will be on Sunday. Please send Diet Coke.

After 13 hours we have arrived back home. I read an entire volume of Timberlake Wertenbaker plays, an Ayckbourne play for kids 3 times (it's a chose-your-own-adventure play, an adaption of Juniper Tree, 84 Charring Cross Road, another translation of Pirandello's Henry 4 and Durrang's version of Christmas Carol. And watched a movie. I'm feeling better - my nose had chosen to at least consider optins for reunification with the rest of me, though it still launches periodic sneak attacks on my upper lip. Oh, and the fish survived our vacation, so, bonus.

Spamalot was wonderful. Our seats blew goats, though. We were in the back row of the mez. so we couldn't see anything happening on top of the castle set unless we practically climbed into the laps of the nice couple in front of us. I gave up during the Lancelot and Herbert scene and just sat on the floor. That actually helped a lot.

We saw Iron Chef Morimoto's resturant last night. The prices scared us away, since we were with Jeff A., so we went across the street for Bubby's Comfort Food. Between the brisket there and the pastrami sandwich from Carnegie Deli I think I ate an entire cow yesterday. We went on a pub crawl after dinner last night. That hurt.

We might try to go to Morimoto's place after seeing Avenue Q tonight, or we might go to one of Mario Batali's establishments. I am very torn since they are almost tied in my heart as 'favorite celebrity chef.' We might go to Coney Island with Jeff tomorrow night. If only we were staying 1 more night we could see the Pixies in concert and try to get tickets to see Marian Seldis in a new Terrance McNally play.

We shopped today. Yesterday I spent my Dividend at a theatre bookstore and today I fulfilled my other big goal for New York shopping - I bought a new suit. It's an Armani. I stop breathing everytime I think about that.

Almost out of time - see you tomorrow perhaps! :)

sometimes I fear for the state of childrens theatre.

I was reading scripts looking for some Second Stage possibilities and found one that looked to be a biting drama about a Bible camp that is actually a hotbed of UFO activity. First three pages are all about testifying, the camp, the strange phenomenon until finally one character can't take all the talk anymore and bursts out "Am I the only one here interested in a little poon?"

Play, meet trash.

I'm going back to reading Jemimah Puddleduck now.

I went to Kokopelli's fund raiser. Kari came up with a wonderful idea which really paid off. She took 5 plays, 3 set in restaurants, one kind of linked to it (espresso was a theme), and one by a local playwright (which was great but had nothing in common with the rest of the night)and cast all waiters and waitresses in the parts. Only one was an experienced actor and they all had so much fun! I think Mark was the only person there who was in theatre and hadn't worked with Kokopelli before. Most of the rest of the crowd were friends of the actors and people I don't think had even set foot in a theatre before.

It was great to see "The Sure Thing" on stage again. I haven't since an improv troupe I was in did a collection of Ives plays. "The Greener Side" I'm sure will pop up around town more. It was a great script about 2 guys watering their lawns and accusing each other of killing people and pets to make the grass greener. It was a little jarring because it was the only thing off-theme. Mt favorite was Aoise Stratford's "Elephants and Coffee" where a woman meets what might be an elephant on a street corner. Of course, he might also be simply a small, near-sighted man in a very wrinkled grey suit. It's just a charming little script. Mark completely missed my favorite line in it. "I know it's weird to be waiting for him in a graveyard, but we all come here eventually, right?"

Glacier Brewhouse and Orso donated the food for after, so I made an utter pig of myself on prosciutto, salmon spread and giant capers. It was almost as bad as the "Greater Tuna incident" where I went to the show thinking it was the pay-what-you-can preview and found out it was a special fund raiser for the Poetry League. I had to pay twice what I expected, but it was my only chance to see the show, so I ate the $20 difference in tuna sandwiches and carrot sticks at the after-party. One of the other highlights of the night was asking an actor how userinfoexpatriate was doing as a stage manager for "Barefoot in the Park" He just started gushing about "Oh! he brought his girlfriend with him so we have a backstage crew finally and they are so cute! They are utterly inseparable!"

A bunch of us from "Salute to the Iditarod" (which is still getting small houses - send your kids!!) snuck in to see act 2 of "Sweeney Todd" the other night. It was their first tech with lights, so there were a lot of problems but the leads were wonderful. I love that music so much and actually being in the room with it was breathtaking. I saw it done by a high school group in Edinburgh this summer, but of course it could barely compare.

Jodi and Sarah have never seen any of the show before so I spent a lot of it answering "Who's that?" and "Now wait, did he rape the wife too because I don't want to like him." Jimmy is having a lot of fun playing Tobias, you can just tell, and Brent is amazing as always. What's cracking me up is that since then, people have been stopping me in the hall backstage to ask what I thought of their tech.

Wow..

First off, a little present for Kathy since she won't get her own damn journal and she won't see it unless I post it ;)

They like the MOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

Now that that's taken care of....2 weeks without an update. I feel lazy, but I just haven't been in the mood to chronicle what's been up with work and all and nothing else has felt important enough to comment on for a while. I know Kathy has missed the updates (since she emailed me about it ;)) so here it comes....the 2 week overview:
