Another One Bites the Dust
Jan. 10th, 2004 12:08 amBorn Yesterday opened tonight to a (mostly) standing ovation and an unusual level of backstage drama. I didn't get to ANSP until almost 4 due to various circumstances (not including the attempt at a nap) and just as I was sitting down to outline what needs to be done for the fund raiser tomorrow my phone rings. It's my ASM (who is running the show with me as sort of an "adviser" since I start rehearsals for ANOTHER show next week) telling me she's taking herself to the hospital.
Now, knowing I'm not calling this show and I probably won't even be in the building much after tonight, I have purposely not learned the tech on the show.
She hasn't prepared a prompt book.
Lights I can handle easy. Act I, easy. Act II.....I'm not sure what the exact timing is on the 4 music cues running back to back or what the levels are. I'm pretty sure I can wing it, which is good since I can't find any concrete notes for it in the booth.
Luckily it all turned out to be nothing and she was there by intermission.
The show went very well, though. Most of what was uneven in the preview really glowed tonight. I'm very proud of all of them.
