Tales of the Vampires, I think it's called. The Outstretched Shadow by Mercedes Lacky and James Mallory. The Scarlet Pimpernel by Baroness Orczy.
3. Nope. Not crazy about 'em, but not afraid of them. Unless they have big pointy sharp teeth, of course.
