2. My middle name is misspelled.

1: Geraldine Deborah - named for my late Uncle Gerald and my late Auntie Deborah.

2: When I see Welsh names or my own name misspelt, I become very pedantic about it!

1: Kait (tis my nickname already, so maybe that's a bit obvious for a WPP name ;)
2: What's Derald meant to be? I know someone called Machelle and it really bugs me. I think "odd" spelling of names is a bit dumb and looks cheap and tacky a lot of the time
3: I have a puppy sleeping at my feet :D

1: Violet or Elizabeth I think.
2: I want to punch people.

2. I want to slap sense into those people's parents.

1. Nicky.
2. That doesn't bother me too much, I guess, but what DOES bother me is names that are completely common, but spelled ridiculously (such as Ashley).

I always thought that was the normal spelling....?

That is the common spelling. It's when people do ridiculously dumb things to a name that should be simple and straightforward. Like Aschlee or something like that. I probably could've been clearer in my example haha

  1. Oh heck… I've already done that once, but I'd probably give a nod to the Scottish side of the family with Mairead — Scottish form of Margaret (as opposed to Mairéad the Irish form of Margaret) this would no doubt pee Mother off as her second name is Margaret. I'd probably tie it with Aisling as a second name.
  2. I want to slap some sense into the parents.
  3. I spent most of last Thursday up to the bewbs in a freezing cold pond. Jenny Cat has just tried to scrape the duvet over a piece of pizza crust

1. Well, um, the first name that comes to my mind is Sookie. *facepalm* It's not that I admire the character, but that I like the sound of the name. But I wouldn't really want to be called that. But seeing as I can't think of anything else right now, I'm stuck with Sookie. *facepalm*

2. "Hee... language change and variation!" would be my first thought, I guess. Your example is particularly fascinating because the change in the spelling doesn't drastically change how that name sounds. But I guess that would make it very impractical because Derald would spend a lot of time spelling his name out to people who think he's called Gerald.

3. Fun? Well, I don't really have any funny anecdotes lined up at the moment, but there's this: http://news.stv.tv/scotland/north/287635-seal-pup-blown-into-field-of-sheep/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

1--Sydney--just cause I have always liked that name--and with that spelling. ;-)
2--Derald is a name??? LOL--I've never heard it though--EVER. As for your question--sometimes it bugs me, but then again my name is spelled differently than the normal (at least from what I have seen of it)--so no biggie. ;-)
3--You asked for it--and since I said that about bugs in my last answer to you--

2. Looks like you'll be able to have your own domain (using your name) and be easy to Google. Nice going, Kid, and don't mind the Jane Smith haters. Heh

1. If you were going into something like the witness protection program and had to change your name, what first name would you select?
Samantha. Then I could have a milliony nicknames and it's very common place so I wouldn't stan d out.

2. When you see a name that is obviously a misspelling of a common name (such as Derald),.what is your first thought?
Bitches ain't got NOTHING on me. So put up and shut up.

1. Molly :)

2. I am not that great at spelling things, but when I know that words (or names) are misspelled, I feel compelled to correct the error!

3. Today my friend Diane said, "It's you and me, Edie. We weave a path of destruction in our wake." That's right ... it's the end of the world as we know it, brought to you by Edie and Diane!

1. Cassandra

2. I always see people misspell Michael as Micheal. I think they're either not paying attention, or they don't care. if someone named their kid Micheal, then they're just dumb.

3. something fun? I'm going to see a burlesque show this weekend, and my 78-year-old mom is going to be selling cupcakes and chocolates as a "smokin' granny"!
