Happy 'Journal Day - Take 2!

My Livejournal is 10 years old today! I am thinking a good way to celebrate this milestone is hosting a friendzy!

You probably, all know the drill by now - post an intro below, get to know some fun people.

I will start, if,'journal doesn't mangle this post!

Hi! I'm [livejournal.com profile] ghost_light, I'm 43 and I suck at writing intros. I live in Anchorage, Alaska with my husband LonelyDumptruck and 296,000 other people.

I work days doing data entry (why yes, that is as exciting as it sounds) and helping out at a small real estate to afford what I really like to do - theatre and roller derby!

I am a Talking Woman and resident stage manager for a burlesque troupe and I  stage and house manage for the Performing Arts Centre where I have been heckled by Bill Engvall and had Kenny G. stick his tongue out at me as we passed in the hall.

I am a  Skating Official (referee) in
the Derby Intelligence Compliance Squad for Anchorage's roller derby league.  Yes, that means we are DICS.
I look forward to meeting all of you!

So, post an intro, make some comments, find some new friends to enjoy!

sure, let's see how we get along!

A very happy 10th to you, my dear! Here's to many more.

Anyhow, I'll introduce myself, too ... I'm always up for new friends. My name's Mark, and I live in Bozeman, Montana. I'm an unattached gay man, and I spend as much time as I can wandering around in the Montana mountains with my camera and my dog Charlie. Right now, I'm posting about 5 times a week, with a fair number of photos. I pretty much always read my friends list, though my commenting is sometimes a bit spotty.

I have LJ friends all over the spectrum, and certainly don't have a litmus test for online friendships, though I appreciate honesty and open-mindedness. Personally, I'm politically and socially progressive, and very non-religious.

Most of my entries are public, so feel free to stop by!

[identity profile] planetgeorge.livejournal.com 2013-12-04 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
I think I'll give this a go. I've had this journal since 2008 but have been on LJ since 2003. I'm George, I'm 44 and am originally from Florida but for the past 2 years I've lived in Pennsylvania. I moved here because I was between jobs and I wanted to be with my girlfriend, who I had been in a long distance relationship with for a year and a half at the time.

So a few things about me...I work in insurance customer service, and I telecommute from home. I'm looking for something better though, since I'm close to graduating with an MBA in healthcare management. I'll commute as far as Philadelphia or NYC.

I'm GLBT-friendly. In fact I believe everyone is at least somewhat bisexual. I don't discriminate against anyone except ignorant assholes. I don't talk much about religion or politics but politically I consider myself Libertarian, and religiously, I recently returned to the Catholic Church after drifting away 5-6 years ago (thank you Pope Francis!) In my spare time I enjoy TV, movies, reading, travel, outdoor activities, golf and skiing. So take a look at my profile and add me if you want.

[identity profile] angelamermaid.livejournal.com 2013-12-04 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
Hi, I'm Angela. I'm 47 and I live in Alberta with my three cats. I'm GLBT-friendly and I'm also not put off by polyamory.

My day job is updating my company's website. Outside of work, I garden, take photographs, spoil my cats, knit, do all sorts of geeky stuff, explore my pantheistic spirituality. I write Grey's Anatomy fanfiction even though my beloved ship of Cristina/Owen has been torched by the writers.

In 2013 alone, I've rediscovered a love for knitting, got hugged by Carrie Fisher, learned level 1 reiki, saw Sir Paul McCartney in concert, finally developed better communication skills, and am starting to think I'm a grown-up now. But I'm not old, not at all.

My goals for 2014 are possibly going to San Diego for a marathon and working on being more flirty. Not necessarily at the same time.

Now I'm concerned that I just oversold myself and you will friend me expecting magic and sparkles with every post and then I'll be posting about the night guard I'm getting from my dentist next week and you will be like, where are the unicorns?

This photo got me a $100 gift certificate from ThinkGeek.com.

I'm not even looking at your profile before adding you back, because your icon shows that you speak my language.

Hi! I'm Christina, and I'm 39 and I live in lovely British Columbia with my husband and fur babies (2 cats, 3 rabbits and a guinea piggy).

We are in a crazy time of our life right now, as we are in the process of fixing up the house we live in to sell.

When our lives are not in boxes I am pretty much a crafty fool. I love to play with polymer clay, I also am fond of crocheting but am a newb, so all I know are a few basic stitches. I have the starts of two lovely blankets to finish soon though, so that's not too bad. I used to draw, and plan to get back in to it as well. I love learning to do new crafts, so I have big plans for once we have moved.

I'm kind of geeky, I love Doctor who (old and new), I like Apple products, and think book stores and thrift stores are Awesome.

My commenting may a bit sparse right now because of how busy we are, but it will smooth out once all of the major stuff is taken care of here, so all I ask is that new friends be patient.

I added you ;)

Hey there, I'm Eru. :) 23 years old, originally from Northern California currently living in Western Washington. I recently earned a Bachelor of Arts in Arts, Media and Culture with a concentration in Literature and will start a Master of Arts in Interfaith Chaplaincy next Autumn. (Afterwards, I hope to go to library school and earn a Masters of Library and Information Science.

I work in a public library and absolutely love it. I'm a proud bookwork and librocubicularist. Other than that, I love veg*n food, karaoke, thrifting, and being a light in the lives of others. Started getting back into gaming and doing mixed media art and watercolours. Not really much of a tv person, but I'm a documentary junkie and use Netflix quite a bit just for that purpose.

More about me can be learned at my profile and I recently did a random facts meme post that can be read here (http://saintsalike.livejournal.com/190218.html). I'm horrible at introducing myself because I'll say something and then be like, "oh, I should have said that about myself instead!"

Looking for people to connect with and create lasting friendships with. I would love to have you along for the journey that is my life. :)

I plan to do Project 365 again (this year I only got to March). I peeked at some of your photos...beautiful!

I'm a long-time LJer and my journal is a mish-mash.

Add?

I'm really interested in what you have to say here. I worked in an academic library (interlibrary loan) and have toyed with becoming a librarian; and I'm also kind of interested in chaplaincy. So I'm adding. :)

Adding. I have library work (staff) in my past and my husband is a teacher. I'm a freelance writer and I have cats. So let's see. :)

Adding! I'm definitely interested in the UU stuff and you talking like that. :) I love how you write about interacting, commenting, and forming friendships. And geeky, liberal, yes, all sounds good to me.

[identity profile] serena-b.livejournal.com 2013-12-04 07:32 am (UTC)(link)
Would it be ok to add you? You seem to have some of the same interests I do, and I also like lj users that engage. :)

[identity profile] plumxxjam.livejournal.com 2013-12-04 07:35 am (UTC)(link)
yey! Added you back. :)

Sure, let's give it a go.

Welcome.

Happy Journal Day and thanks for hosting! :)

Name's manuela, born in '79 and living in Germany.
In my journal (which is locked except for some picture posts) you'll find rambling about every day stuff, I like to take pictures when I'm going somewhere and post videos when I fell in love with new music I discovered and if I haven't updated my journal for a week or two, I simply make an entry talking about what I did and what's going on, out of sheer guilty conscience.

I love puns and wordplay and books (Steinbeck, Poe, Kafka. Frank McCourt, Neil Gaiman, Walter Moers. To name some of my all time favourites).
Music! As long as it's self-made and does not include too much synthie sounds or even drum computers.
Travelling, languages, accents. Stuff!

Not religious in the sense of the common religious orientations, but I respect life, which includes no tolerance of animal cruelty or abuse of people with any kind of deficiencies whatsoever. So not taking any kind of jokes in that direction, but in general I'm not easily offended, have a rather morbid kind of humour and tend to take things not too seriously.

LGBT friendly (which is rather sad having to be mentioned, now that I think about it, isn't it?), pro-interaction on LJ, anti-drama, gluten-free.

I’m Josh. I’m a photographer in my 30s. Here are a few basic things to know about me and my journal:
* Photography is both my income, hobby, and passion. Consequently the vast majority of my posts are photos. I post photos to mark events, share what I see, and enjoy a personal memory here and there. Unless I’m asking for it I’m generally not looking for a critique. I love comments on photos if they resonate with you, but you aren’t under any obligation. My journal is mostly photos, and I typically post one a day.
* I’m a liberal, agnostic, childless, pet-less, 100% sober individual. If your views on life are super traditional we are likely not going to click. My journal is by no means political, but those are my leanings in case you were wondering.
* I’m more emotional than the average guy, I’d like to think I’m a very caring and good friend to the people on LJ I connect with. Of course that part is subjective. I have a lot of friends on my list that are struggling with serious issues. I used to say that I wasn’t looking for anymore friends suffering from depression simply because it was too hard for me to have to read about sadness all of the time without internalizing a bit. I guess now I’m more to a stage of - if you have a problem in your life that is big that you aren’t trying to improve upon, I would ask that you skip me. If you are working it out, and could use some support - I like helping. I go through some dark moods myself, I think everyone does. I do try to remain somewhat positive.
* Sometimes I rant about business stuff in my journal. I absolutely love my job and I don’t want to do anything else, but like any job it has it’s ups and downs.
* I love really getting to know people on LJ, and even though sometimes that can be hard with so many great people living so far away I do think it’s ultimately worth it. I’m not opposed to connecting on more than one level of social media and I’ve met quite a few people from here in my time.
* I comment when I feel like it, and if you write in massive text clumps I tend to avoid those entries. Give me some paragraph breakups and I am more likely to chime in. If you are keeping a tally count on comments and like to do friends cuts a lot I’m probably too laid back for you.
* Due to the nature of my business a lot of my life is fairly public on the internet. I ask that whatever I talk about in my journal stays there.
