If you have Netflix streaming, spend some time watching a few of the classic Twilight Zone episodes.

I have been a Zonie for decades. I still remember the first episode I saw - 5 Characters in Search of an Exit. When I won 'most improved student' in the 6th grade, the prize was a bookstore gift certificate. I spent the whole thing on a complete guide to the Twilight Zone. I still have it, and it is one of my most battered books. I bought a new copy which included the 80's series, but I lent it to a friend who claims he never saw it. Cue music here.

Some of those episodes were so clever and inventive, it is a shame that they are not repeated on a major channel.

I love the old shows the most, but a few of the newer ones were excellent, too.

Are you into George R.R. Martin's "Song of Ice and Fire" book series? ( It's what HBO's miniseries, "Game of Thrones" is based upon).

He did an episode on the newer ones called "Sandkings". It was a short story in a Sci-Fi collaborative book he did. It starred Beau Bridges. What a great story! And they did a good job with it, too.

If Netflix has the newer ones, too, try to find the one that has "Sandkings" on it. You'll LOVE IT! Trust me, you will!

Another great 60's Sci-Fi show? The Outer Limits!

I have those kinds of friends lurking around. I lent one of my friends 3 books last year. I keep asking for them, but she says, "I haven't finished them yet. I haven't been in the mood to read, but I want to read them." I'm not too concerned, she lives two doors down, and hopefully she won't move in the middle of the night, taking my books with her.

Your friend sounds like my friend who has dropped off the face of the earth while still holding several of my dvds (THAT I'VE NEVER WATCHED MIND YOU) hostage. I want my copy of St. Elmo's Fire back damn it! Not to mention my Pride & Prejudice! I need my Darcy fix!

I heart "Twilight Zone"!

I still remember watching several specific episodes in junior high ... "Nick of Time" (with a very "teh hotz" William Shatner) and "Eye of the Beholder". Funny, what sticks with a person. That was 15 years ago! ;-)
