Not aimed at anyone

I swear. I was just closing down the show after I *Just Happened* to blow a light cue and was teased about it and into my head jumped

It stops giving the techie shit. It does this whenever its told or else it gets the dark again.

Whoa.

I guess i'm missing the background, because that made no sense at all.

(I've decided that "think out loud sunday" applies to writing.)

It's just a Silence of the Lambs joke. I used to have a manager when I worked at the bookstore who would walk downstairs with the cash bag and say "It puts the 20s in the register. It does this whenever its told or else it gets the hose again."

I just love that movie.

I forgot to mention. I saw a crew guy wearing a t-shirt that said "Fuck with me, dance in the dark."

Wow :)

I was running a board on a funky makeshift house in a run where I was constantly fighting for credit for my kids, who were of an age where getting public credit is everything.

The Artistic Director stood on stage, and gave thanks to EVERYONE but lighting and deck crew. I lost 3 NSI packs, and most of the front light for the stage. I could not get them fired back up, so threw one of my kids on the board, grabbed my coat to use as a heat shield, and started re-focusing the few front of house ellipsoids I had left.

Something about the timing… even with minor burns on both hands and forarms, to this day no one who was on that crew believes it was an accident.

I never had trouble getting my kids public credit again, although it DID make it difficult to explain that no, you NEVER intentionally do something to draw attention to yourself as a tech crew, and NEVER intentionally do something that the audience will notice as wrong.

That makes me happy.

When my brother was having a bit of difficulty with some high school kids with big britches, I bought him a special "theater black" shirt. Long sleeve, black, all proper… embroidered on the back in stark white 2 inch letters is the caption “OBEY ME!”

It is remarkable how well that works. Simple, direct, and very effective.
