Stupid stuff

Just a quick filler post before I update about Kodiak etc.

I play Sims. I can be a serious Sims addict and most of my friends think i play 24/7 but really I just go on binges.

Now that my computer is *finally* up and running again, it looks as though I should delete my families and reload the game on my second hard drive.

This is where you-all come in (knew it had to be somewhere, right?) Many moons ago I was bored and started making families kind of inspired by people I know. Not Sims based on the people, but on their interests. For example - one of my oldest friends plays D&D and is a comic book junkie. The last name of "his" family is Ranger and all the kids are named after animated characters.

I'm bored again - tell me what your favorite/best things are. I need some new families for my new game.

Things that I like to do:

read, collect fountain pens, watch foreign films, attack rather tailless kittens, ballroom dance, and pitch woo.

PS. Use Waterman instead of Parker this time...

I'm into goth, I only wear black, and I love creatures that other people consider to be creepy. I'm also nutty as a fruitcake. ;)

Star wars(the GOOD ones), pontificating, dreaming of world domination, mooching off my friends, defining slacking into a pure art form.

I started yours but he married a townie and took her last name so now I'm debating about just starting again or trying to get the proper name back...

He took her last name? How forward thinking of him. Your Sims rule!

Seriously, how is the game? Back when [livejournal.com profile] scarletdemon and I were still friends, she told me I'd dig it. My gamegeek husband (who does not play it, and does not own a copy) has told me the same thing.

I figure, I'd ask for a 3rd opinion.

So, what's the appeal. Is it that you can manipulate everything, and the Sims become almost like real people, or is it something else? What makes it cool for you?

[identity profile] ghost-light.livejournal.com 2005-04-20 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
I enjoy the random creation features, but I really like the added game play features with University (The course names just slay me - Modern Dance: A seminar in moving pretentiously)I've always liked playing SIms for the kids, so the fact they get random attributes from the parents is very cool. Did you play the first Sims?

Yeah, he's forward thinking, but kind of blew the joke early :)

[identity profile] toastedtuna.livejournal.com 2005-04-20 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
I've never once played Sims, so I don't know anything about it other than you'd better let them take a leak every now & then so they don't pee on the floor. LOL!

[identity profile] kornopolous.livejournal.com 2005-04-20 08:56 am (UTC)(link)
I only wanted to add one obvious interest at a time.

[identity profile] ghost-light.livejournal.com 2005-04-20 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, sometimes they are more self-suficient but other times you have to walk them through every part of their day. The part that drives me nuts is when they are too tired to function, hungry and bored they weon't sleep. They get up and try to cook or get to the bathroom and they keep passing out in the hall.

[identity profile] toastedtuna.livejournal.com 2005-04-20 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
ROFLMAO! That really happens? Sweet. I should go find an old, used copy of the game & give it a whirl.

Do you play it on the PC, or on a gaming system?

[identity profile] ghost-light.livejournal.com 2005-04-20 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I only play it on PC. I've heard the X-Box game is interesting - it gives you a series of goals instead of just being open-ended game play. So, instead of you just getting your Sim a job and making him learn to cook so he doesn't burn the house down, they give you the task of learning to make a meal and earning ___ simoleons so you can move out of the parents' basement...

[identity profile] ghost-light.livejournal.com 2005-04-20 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Well this is your one time to do this, so.....?

[identity profile] toastedtuna.livejournal.com 2005-04-20 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, that sounds pretty neat!!

[identity profile] ghost-light.livejournal.com 2005-04-20 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I keep thinking about renting it just to see how different and fun it is.
